I read about the death of an eight month old infant and it wrings at my heart. I cannot imagine the trauma of the 24 year old Filipina mother. No mother would ever wish to be the cause of her own infant’s death even if it through negligence.
It was reported as follows:
An eight-month-old baby died in a hospital yesterday after he was reportedly strangled when his head went through one of the holes of the hammock he was sleeping on in his parents’ house in Tondo, Manila.
Baby John Prince Henry was declared dead by Dr. Renato Tongol of the Mary Johnston Hospital at 1 p.m. yesterday. The cause of death was reportedly asphyxia through strangulation.
Just going by the name of the baby, it already shows what he meant to the mother, a “Prince” in every sense of that word. How very sad that it was through an unpremeditated slip of hers, that it did not occur to her the ever fatal danger of the hammock.

I was thinking to ignore the whole story (that I could have a good night sleep later) but I did read it anyway. This is really a tragedy for the baby’s family and I bet they would live with it for the rest of their lives.
Have a peaceful journey, Prince!
