President Aquino Should Get Down To Business

The honeymoon period should be over for Philippine’s President Aquino after being sworn into Office on June 30th this year. Approaching his Inauguration to the Presidency, he spoke about the yoke on his shoulders not to let his father down.

Hardly a month later, at a ceremony he officiated where a giant photo mosaic of his mother at the Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park in Manila was held, he spoke about Cory’s burden now upon me“.

Apparently, this reluctant aspirant to the Presidency and now the President once too often harps on what carried him through a successful iconoclast campaign to become the 15th. President of the Philippines.

It is time that he stops looking behind and at his deceased parents to shore up public support. He is in charge now. He should get down seriously to the immense challenges to put his country and his subjects back on track.

Now is the hour for President Aquino to begin to imprint his legacy and stop his maudlin appeals to his countrymen about his yoke in accomplishing the unfinished business of both his father and his mother.

In a separate issue about the first impressions from outside the Philippines, it has not been favorable. President Aquino was described by a Newspaper columnist in Malaysia as lacking diplomatic skills. His handling of both his neighboring countries, Malaysia and Indonesia, has lacked finesse.

This reflects what I mentioned earlier at the Comment section here at my Blog, that I have reservations about the overall ability of President Aquino as he has not been a very articulate politician before he became President. It’s beginning to show.

  1. Lainy says:

: Hmm, in his First State of the Nation Address, he spoke on how steadfast his government is in cleaning up the government system. He did exposed some of the government agencies who spent the people’s money lavishly.

He still got a lot of things to show. I don’t want to dub him this early, HE IS GOOD AT HIS WORDS BUT HIS WORDS ARE NO GOOD.

Now I am curious why our Malaysian and Indonesian neighbors find him lacking in finesse.

Gotta wait for that in your next post. :)

    Hi Lainybelle,

“He did exposed some of the government agencies who spent the people’s money lavishly.”

Nothing new. 99 percent of Filipinos know that even before the President exposed it. But what did he do to mete out Justice for public funds ill spent and so lavishly?
Does President Aquino have the clout?

About Malaysia and Indonesia – I read that President Aquino was rude with his callous handling of offers from Indonesia and Malaysia to intervene as peace makers with the Muslim anti-Philippine Government in the South.
