Flight Confirmed

The desktop and the laptop transactions that I engaged with Windy last year was the primary reason why I booked my flight to KL in February. Add to that the digicam which I’ve bought from a friend of his. That was  done in a rush but I so wanted to help him who was in dire need at the time. I have to admit, I have been tempted quite a number of times to sell off the cam and the desktop in emergency cases especially with the family’s financial situation right now. But I realized it wouldn’t be wise to do it. So I had to find another way to resolve my financial concerns.

My confirmed flight

I find it practical to make the trip and handcarry the items rather than have them sent via courier. And of course, I’d also want to be reunited with Windy once more.

Star and I initially planned of traveling together to Singapore via JB. But she wanted to avail of the promo fare. I wasn’t able to wait for it so I booked mine ahead of her. When she availed of the promo fare, the dates which I’ve booked for myself was already full. We both felt disappointed. Somehow, I felt relieved that I won’t be a distraction to her and J. But the thought of traveling alone makes me feel nervous. On one hand, it will be a big adventure being my first time.

However, I am still unsure If I could make the trip despite the flight being confirmed because of some inevitable circumstances. I am still keeping my fingers crossed though. If worse comes to worst, Star shall be carrying the items for me from Windy.

I can’t actually wait to get a hold of the beautiful lappy. Windy showed it to me via webcam. It’s so nice and sleek! I feel so excited! I was envious when Star got her new lappy. Windy told me there’s no reason to feel that way coz mine will be a lot better ;-)

Windy is Indeed One of a Kind!

Two years ago, I was one of the few victims of some scammers in the worldwide web. I was too helpless when my blog Lainy’s Musings got hacked. I was not using WordPress at the time yet. I was forced to shift to WordPress when Windy suggested that I will get more protection once my platform is WordPress as it gives its users more protection than any other platforms available. I was a little hesitant because I was unfamiliar to it. But through Windy’s persistent guidance, encouragements and patience, I finally agreed to have my blogs undergo such radical change. Windy was generous enough to host two of my blogs at his own webhost. I owe him big time up to this very day for all the help he has extended to me, all free of charge. He has always been my knight in shining armor. Always coming to the rescue.

I haven’t heard of Free Blog yet at the time. I only came across of it when I was scouting for a different webhost. It was at the time when I felt I was abusing Windy’s generosity. He doesn’t let me pay a single cent for hosting my blogs and also for the renewal of my domains. I felt it was already too much! His kindness is just beyond words!

I scouted for a webhost without Windy’s knowledge. It was then when I learned that Free Blog is powered by WordPress. I can have the URL of my choice all for free! I got so ecstatic to share the news with Windy. Only to hear him say that he does not want me out of his webhost. He further told me that real friends never keep count of what one does for the other. I was tongue-tied and stupefied. He’s so da*n right!

I have always been grateful for having Windy as one of the most genuine friend one could ever have in the blogosphere. He’s indeed one of a kind! May the likes of him multiply in number ;-)

A Lawsuit Completes After 8 Years

The Background briefly: In 2002, a former supplier of Computer items approached me on two separate occasions to give him support as he had recently begun a new business.

After recommending him an Indonesian customer who wished to start a Computer center in Indonesia, the supplier began supplying and exported Computer parts to Indonesia for this Indonesian.

The Indonesian ran into financial difficulties and was late on payments for half of the supplies he received. The Supplier turned to the local mafia to recover payments from the Indonesian. Fearing for the safety of his family and himself, the Indonesian fled to Indonesia.

The Supplier had a lawsuit brought against my wife, accusing that he sold the Computer items to her and she had failed to pay.

Incredulous

Not only is the matter that this blatant lie was permissible for a Court hearing (despite hard evidence given to the Court to refute such allegations), this Court case was postponed for 8 years!

Even more incredulous

When there was enough proof during the cross examination of the plaintiff that he was misrepresenting and blatantly lying under Oath, the Judge did not dismiss the case as a mistrial.

The Final Showdown

On June 24th, my wife and I took the stand to be queried by our own legal Counsel as well as to be cross examined by the prosecution.

That was preceded by uncertainty whether our case was to be heard by a different Judge (something that we learned on that morning while waiting in Court) or it would continue with the previous Judge.

This 11th hour uncertainty and inconsistency sent several mixed signals to me.

Our legal Counsel finally managed to reverse the hearing back to the Judge who had been presiding over our case.

The Prosecution failed to discredit that the forgery of my wife’s signature was a mistaken understanding.

As witness in the lawsuit, against my legal Counsel’s belief as well as my understanding, the Prosecution cross examined me for less than 15 minutes. I expected it to last for more than two hours because I had produced the bulk of evidence to refute the plaintiff’s accusation. Strangely, my cross examination was that short.

Judge’s verdict

After receiving written submissions from the Prosecution and the Defence Counsellors, the Judge will give his verdict on July 21st.

For my part, I think that I made it very clear to the Judge that the plaintiff did business with the Indonesian who fled the country, that the plaintiff had falsely accused my wife, lied and that none of his allegations carried any semblance of truth.

It is comforting that the aged Judge took time to question me and get the facts clearly understood as he wrote down every answer that I gave him.

8 years of this charade and I lost the count of how many times we went to Court only to be told to return at another appointed date for hearing.
